Lovest thou me (yourself)?

It will come as a surprise to some people, that according to Scripture (Mark 12:31; Ephesians 5:28), we are to love ourselves. It is God's will for us to do so, because we cannot love others until we learn first to love ourselves; we must possess self-esteem and self-respect, in the confines of His Word. The self-esteem or self-respect that is spiritually, physically, and mentally healthy for us begins with an awareness that God loves us; and He doesn't make junk! Come on, we all know that many of the dark and devious sins of this world are committed by people who have lost all respect for themselves. When you truly have a healthy self-image, when you can accept yourself as you really are, and as God sees you, then you will be free to forget yourself and reach out to others with the love of God. I know this sounds like a paradox? Nevertheless, it is true. When we lack self-esteem and self-respect, we are too preoccupied with our own feelings and guilt to really think of others. His Word is clear, as we are called, according to Acts 1:8, " be witnesses unto me (Jesus Christ)..." So, pray for God to help you "fall in love" with who He created; bring your flesh under subjection, and allow His Spirit to mold you into His likeness. Remember, "God so loved the world (you in your state of imperfection) that He gave His all!" So, you must give your all to Him in return...
